HEAD OF SCHOOL
In September 2020, Dan Hildebrand announced his planned retirement as Head of School on June 30, 2021. Dan came to Forsyth in 2018 with 40 years of experience as an educator, coach, and administrator. Prior to Forsyth, he served as the Interim Head of School at Visitation Academy in St. Louis. Under Dan's leadership, Forsyth successfully secured reaccreditation from the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS); navigated the global COVID-19 pandemic; launched our new Eyas Program for ages 2–3; and developed a new Strategic Plan with an updated mission, vision, and values. The Forsyth community is saddened to bid farewell to Dan, but we wish him all the best in his retirement.
The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce Robert Butler, Jr., as new Head of Forsyth School, effective July 1, 2021. Rob returns to St. Louis and joins Forsyth with more than 20 years of experience as a teacher, coach, and administrator. He comes to Forsyth from University Liggett School (Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan), where he has been the Assistant Head of School and Head of the Middle School since 2017. Before that, he worked at Whitfield School in St. Louis for seven years in a variety of teaching, coaching, and administrative roles, ending his tenure there as the Middle School Director.
Rob holds a Master of Arts in English from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Northeastern State University. He has served on the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) Board of Trustees since 2015 and recently participated in the ISACS Leadership Academy in partnership with the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. We are excited to welcome Rob and his family into the Forsyth community this summer! Meanwhile, the Board of Trustees, Dan Hildebrand, and the administrative Leadership Team have already started working closely with Rob to ensure a seamless leadership transition. Coincidentally, Dan was the Head Track Coach at Holland Hall School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when Rob ran track and field there as a high school student!
