Faculty & Staff Spotlight | Leah Hooper, Grade 4
What's the worst thing you did as a kid?
In sixth grade, I had a most unfortunate event at lunch one day. Chili fries were served up for lunch and one lonely chili fry found its way to the table in front of me. Without thinking, I flicked the fry and its cheesy, chili goodness across the table managing to directly hit my science teacher’s son, Jason Neale. The chili made quite an explosive mark on Jason’s yellow oxford shirt. I apologized profusely, certainly not intending to hit him. However, word got back to my science teacher, and I was sent to the principal’s office! My middle school principal let me know he wasn’t going to give me a “punishment” but stated with great authority that my parents would be very disappointed in me. Clearly, the experience made a mark on me, and I do not flick food anymore!
Are you a saver or a spender?
I had to confer with Mr. Hooper on this one, and the consensus is that I’m a spender.
What do you love about Forsyth?
There are too many things to list here, but just a few are the incredible students and their families that make teaching such a joy each day, our teaching teams that feel like family, and an amazing campus. Walking into work each day and seeing the joyful, inquisitive students, trees blooming, and warm smiles of fellow teachers make this an absolute dream job.
