Author Visit: Traci N. Todd & Vashti Harrison
Forsyth welcomed award-winning authors Traci N. Todd and Vashti Harrison to campus on Thursday, September 10, to share their new picture book collaboration, That You Are Here Is No Small Thing. Students in Junior-Kindergarten through Grade 4 heard from Traci about her background, her writing process, and the impetus for this new book. Then, Vashti spoke about her approach to illustration and even performed a beautiful drawing demonstration during the Q&A!
Traci N. Todd is a Sibert Honor author and book editor. Her picture book biographies Nina: A Story of Nina Simone and Holding Her Own: The Exceptional Life of Jackie Ormes both won the Coretta Scott King Honor Award. Vashti Harrison won the 2024 Caldecott Medal and the Coretta Scott King Honor Award and was a National Book Award finalist for her picture book Big. She is also the New York Times bestselling creator of Little Leaders, Little Dreamers, and Little Legends and is a two-time recipient of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for Children.
