Fall Camping Trips
In September, Forsyth’s Grade 5 students spent the night in cabins at Camp Lakewood in Potosi, enjoying archery, ziplining, canoeing, hiking, and, of course, a campfire! In October, Grade 6 camped overnight in tents at Greensfelder County Park. They climbed the Alpine Tower and enjoyed traditional camping activities like hiking and orienteering. They also practiced camping skills, including pitching a tent, building a fire, and cooking outside.
Forsyth’s three-year camping progression starts with a one-night campout on campus in Grade 4 in the spring and continues with an overnight off-campus campout in Grade 5 in the fall. Grade 6 students take two off-campus camping trips, including a three-night camping trip to the Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont in the spring.
